\u201cGevechtsverslag: 1200 uur, BE tweezitter, ten zuiden van La Folie Wood, vlakbij Vimy. Inzittenden: Luitenant Byrne en Luitenant Smythe, 40 Squadron. Beiden gedood. Vliegtuig No. 6232, details van motor niet bij de hand omdat motor in aarde stortte; kan niet worden opgegraven omdat locatie onder zwaar artillerievuur ligt. Ik was mijn squadron kwijt en vloog alleen en observeerde al enige tijd een vijandelijke artillerievlieger. Op een gunstig moment viel ik de BE machine aan en na 200 schoten brak de romp van de machine in twee\u00ebn. Het vliegtuig viel rokend in onze linies. Het toestel ligt bij het bos van La Folie ten westen van Vimy, slechts een paar passen achter de loopgraven.
